It came across my mind today about the laziness. I think we are all possess this trait but why the laziness is exist in all of us? Sometimes we’d like to delay something even though we can do it now. I think if we can cut-off this bad behaviour, our live can be more effective, productive, and filled with ardent i believe. Now let’s take a look at what Bible says about laziness:
Proverbs 13:4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the deligent shall be made fat.
The Bible speaks directly to us that the source of laziness is in the soul and so the deligent. But i would like to give some quotes that correspond to this topic:
Work is a dull thing; you cannot get away from that. The only agreeable existence is one of idleness, and that is not, unfortunately, always compatible with continuing to exist at all.
~ Rose Macaulay (1881-1958)
Laziness is the mother of inventions …. It is comfortable to be lazy. I doubt that without laziness any of modern comforts could have been invented … How blessed we are with this extraordinary gift of a desire to do the greatest amount of work with the least expediture of energy! Without laziness in our bones, where would civilization be today?
~ Lin Yutang (1895-1976)
All of us have different amount of laziness, we have it inside our bones. I don’t think laziness is a sin but it doesn’t mean if it is good. We can’t shutdown the laziness, if we do then we’ll have to shutdown our soul. In fact, we can’t always work, if we do we will die because of the overwork (karoshi). So we have to live in harmony and measure everything wisely. I always believe that we can’t take any food intact, like eating a fish, we have to seperate the fishbone from its flesh.
The shewrd person knows how to give birth an invention out of someone’s laziness. If we do know that all of us have certain amount of laziness, we can invent something out of that which is a good thing. But from that we also know that we are vulnerable to be entrenched and not move at all. Deep inside our soul we know if life is moving but I sometimes can’t express and fully know the hidden things within my soul. It sometimes hard to express what my soul is saying. David said:
Psalms 23:3 He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righeousness for His name’s sake.
The corruption of this soul only can be restored by GOD. So i end up with this hypothesis, laziness is almost the same like an addiction, it can’t be conquered by the surpression of it but instead with connection. God bless you. Glory to GOD.
